We are delighted that our esteemed President, Nigel Scott, has been awarded an Elmbridge Volunteer Long Service Award.
Nigel attended the very first rehearsal of Elmbridge Choir in September 2005 with his wife, Sue, and daughter, Cathy, and immediately offered his services to assist our founder, Cliff van Tonder, in the running of the choir.
Nigel provided invaluable assistance as Chairman of the society until he stepped down from the position in 2015. In recognition of his 10 years of dedicated service Nigel was offered the position of Honorary President, a post he accepted and still holds today.
Speaking of Nigel's much-deserved award, Cliff remarked, "He is utterly dependable, completely reliable and the backbone of our music society. I have no doubt that without Nigel’s hard work, constancy, determination and input, we would not have achieved so much and would not be the successful society we are today. I cannot stress enough how important he has been to the smooth running and success of Surrey Music."
Cliff continued "Nigel's success is further magnified by the hard work, unwavering support and selfless dedication to both him and the choirs, by his lovely wife Sue who has been an outstanding rock of strength and dependability to all of us over the years."
Nigel attended a ceremony at Elmbridge Civic Offices on Friday 19th October to collect his Award which was presented by the Mayor of Elmbridge, Cllr Shweta Kapadia.
