One of Surrey’s largest and liveliest community choirs are celebrating their 10th anniversary with a concert at Cornerstone the Church in Walton-on-Thames on Saturday 29th June 2019.

The 90-voice Elmbridge Ladies Choir, under the direction of Christine Parker, will perform “Now we are 10!”, a compilation of the choirs’ favourite songs from the last decade, plus the very first performance of the choirs’ brand-new repertoire.
“We are all very excited about this concert as it gives us a chance to sing our hearts out with all the songs we absolutely love, as well as showcase our new songs,” says Christine Parker. “It’s hard to believe we are ten years old; many of our current members joined the choir at the very first rehearsal! The ladies are so supportive of each other and so enthusiastic, and as Musical Director I couldn’t be prouder.”
Elmbridge Ladies Choir, together with Elmbridge Choir, form Surrey Music, a community organisation which has raised in excess of £200,000 for charities and worthy causes.
This concert will raise funds for the Dylan Howells Foundation, a charity which supports local individuals and sports clubs in Surrey, encouraging children and young adults to progress in their chosen sport and to help them enjoy life and fulfil their ambitions, irrespective of ability. The charity was set up in memory of Dylan Howells, who passed away suddenly aged 41.
“We are delighted to support this charity, not least because Dylan’s mum, Doreen, is a long-serving member of Elmbridge Ladies Choir,” explains Cliff van Tonder, CEO and Founder of Surrey Music. “The ladies have achieved so much in ten years, and I feel so proud that simply by doing what they love to do – sing! – they bring joy to so many people and have helped so many charities.”
Surrey Music’s concerts are known for the fun they bring to their audience, and this one promises to be no different. With a diverse programme of songs from 60s kitsch to contemporary pop and rock, a special performance from the 100+ mixed voice Elmbridge Choir and guest appearances from Musical Directors from the past ten years, an evening of great celebration is planned!

The concert starts at 7pm. Tickets costing £12 adults, £5 under 16 or £44 for a group of 4, are available now from www.charityconcert.co.uk
