There was no doubt that Christmas had arrived in Claygate last weekend as the 200-plus voices of Surrey Music performed a seasonal spectacular, ‘Make Mine a Snowball!’ at Holy Trinity Church.
While the audience of 350 enjoyed a varied festive programme from Elmbridge Ladies Choir and Elmbridge Choir, a dazzling light and visual show created a magical ambience within the church.
The 90-strong Elmbridge Ladies Choir, led by Dale Thomas, provided the first half of the programme, while the mixed-voice Elmbridge Choir, under the direction of Cliff van Tonder, completed the evening’s entertainment. Younger members of the audience weren’t forgotten, as the concert’s finale of ‘Let It Go’, from the hit Disney film ‘Frozen’, was brought to life with a performance from a Snow Queen Elsa and four little Olafs!
‘It was a very special evening and a great start to Christmas!’ says Cliff van Tonder. ‘We were honoured that the Mayor of Elmbridge, Councillor Tannia Shipley came along to see us and would like to thank her for her support. We would also like to thank our audience for their generosity; a retiring collection in aid of Woking and Sam Beare Hospices raised more than £550 which is an incredible amount.’
