Elmbridge Choir 2017 - a year in review
Although the first few months of 2017 were relatively quiet for us in terms of concerts, behind the scenes we were hard at work learning new songs to add to our ever-increasing repertoire, and rehearsing for our ‘Razzle Dazzle’ concert which took place in June, raising in excess of £2000 for ‘yourSanctuary’ - such a fantastic result!
The next few months were spent rehearsing for the highlight of our year – the Malta International Choir Festival!
A record number of us had five fabulous days of fun and laughter, singing and sightseeing, joined by Elmbridge Ladies Choir and Vox Mundi - a party of 195 in total!
In September we had a light-hearted respite with a one-day choral workshop led by Chris Rowbury – great fun was had by all, learning songs from around the world, accompanied by some rather interesting choreography...
At the start of December we warmly welcomed our families and friends to join us for a festive performance and our end of year social – more singing, dancing and merriment!
Our last rehearsal of the year turned into a bit of a party (no surprise there!) and we enjoyed singing through some of our old Christmas favourites and raising a glass to celebrate another fantastic year. It was a great opportunity to thank Cliff for his dedication to the choir, as well all the other helpers who give their time to ensure the smooth running of the organisation.
We are really excited about next year. We already have one concert confirmed for Friday 6th April (more details to follow) and plans are being made for other concerts and performances. Watch this space!
We wish all our families, friends and supporters a very Happy, Healthy and Musical New Year, and look forward to seeing you in April if not before!
